This cleverly abridged play tells of the Pilgrims’ original voyage to the New World. They seek religious freedom, and they’re not finding it in jolly old England, nor in a failed trip to Holland. So it’s off to the New World with Captain Jones on the mighty Mayflower. Captain Chappell’s ship Speedwell would have accompanied the Mayflower except that it springs a leak!
After finally settling at Plymouth Rock, it’s up to John Carver, Myles Standish, William Bradford, and the rest of the new settlers to make nice with Native Americans Samoset, Squanto, Chief Massasoit, and others. Sure enough, the Natives help the Pilgrims survive the harsh winter and then remind the settlers all they have to be thankful for. The play might be brief, but there’s no shortage of laughs!
